The Washington Post takes a look at the Haymaker (1015 H Street), the new tavern that recently opened in the space previously occupied by the Atlas Room. If you know chef Matt Cordes from the Atlas Room you might be surprised to find a very different atmosphere and menu (still evolving) at the Haymaker. The new project is more of a neighborhood bar, one that includes big screen tvs for sports and news, and a menu to match.

Looking to get energized this weekend? You are in luck, my friend. At least two local places will host New Orleans style jazz bands. Tonight you can make your way to Gallery O on H (1354 H Street) to catch the Soggy Po Boys as they launch their new tour (7 p.m., no cover) . On Saturday you can head over to Ivy City's Big Chief (2002 Fenwick Street) where the Brass Connection Band performs starting at 7 p.m.
