Local News Brief: Ben's Upstairs, Oktoberfest at Wunder Garten, & Art All Night Volunteers

DSC_0011

1001 (1001 H St.), the restaurant above Ben's Chili Bowl, is henceforth to be known as Ben's Upstairs. They've overhauled the menu as well. The jerked salmon remains, but a lot of other dishes got the boot in favor of new offerings. No more beer brined chicken, but you can now get meatloaf or pork ribs.

Bisnow has an article on the redevelopment of H Street. It's a nice little update on some of the larger projects along the Corridor, and it also suggests the Whole Foods will open by the end of winter.

Can't hop a plane to Munich? Celebrate Oktoberfest right here in the District with Wunder Garten (First Street and L Street)). The party kicks off on Thursday with beer, games, and food. Friday they'll add live German music to the mix. Admission is free, except for their weekend Bavarian brunches (tickets are $20). The festivities culminate in a pig roast Sunday night. The food is coming from CafĂ© Berlin (322 Mass Ave.) on Capitol Hill.

H Street Main Street is looking for volunteers for H Street's Art All Night events on Saturday. Email volunteer[at]hstreet.org to learn more.
