Hello my fellow Trinidad neighbors!

My first term as your 5D02 ANC Commissioner is coming to an end in December.  It has been a privilege to represent our neighborhood the past two years and I would be honored to represent you again.  I'm running for re-election and would appreciate your vote and support on November 8!

I love representing and supporting the Trinidad community and for over 10 years I've advocated to protect the rights of the most vulnerable and believe all of us should have safe neighborhoods, jobs and economic opportunities.  I will continue to work collaboratively with residents to understand challenges and develop appropriate solutions.

We have accomplished a lot in the last two years, namely for example:

  • Educated residents about and facilitated access to various DC government resources and services
  • Worked collaboratively with residents of Holbrook Terrace NE to better understand the BZA zoning regulations and process;
  • Advocated for resident concerns and preferences regarding BZA cases 19173 and 19168;
    • Facilitated communications between residents and property owner to ensure concerns were shared during Board of Zoning Adjustments hearing;
    • Facilitated meetings, discussions and negotiation of terms of agreement between residents and property owner
  • Hosted community clean-ups
  • Graduated from the inaugural MPD Community Engagement Academy which allowed me to better advocate for our community public safety needs
  • Presented during the DC Office of the Tenant Advocate Summit 2015 on "Working Effectively with Your ANC Commissioner"
  • Assisted resident with resolving outstanding 2-year issue with property taxes and vehicle registration
  • During the 2016 blizzard, worked with Mayor's Office and City Administrator to ensure timely plowing and snow removal of Trinidad neighborhood streets
  • Worked with Attorney General's Office to identify vacant, blighted, and abandoned problem properties and to ensure property owners are held accountable
  • Revised settlement agreements for Kovak's liquor license agreement to include community concerns; improved settlement agreements for problematic liquor license on Bladensburg Road (Stanton's and Roses)
  • Advocated for tenant rights and access to legal representation
  • Assisted senior homeowners with resolving concerns and issues posed by harassing developers
  • Advocated and assisted with DDOT traffic and street studies for one-way and reserved residential parking permits
  • Secured book bag and athletic uniform donations for youth, Thanksgiving turkeys and baskets, and other resources for residents in need.
  • Coordinated Trinidad Day 2016 after four year hiatus

I look forward to continuing to serve as your voice for the neighborhood and to work together with you and for you as we continue to build upon our good work and generate results.

I hope I can count on your vote! Want to get involved or volunteer? Just email me your name and contact information.

***Early voting is underway in DC at One Judiciary Square, 441 4th Street NW, yesterday October 22 through November 4, 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., including Sundays. https://www.dcboee.org/ev/index.asp

2:15,
I did not delete any such comment, and there's nothing like that caught in my spam filter. If you attempted to post a comment and it did not appear, it's was probably a technical issue, or you didn't click publish.

Further, Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner is a non-partisan position.
