Local News Brief: ANC 5D Mtg 10/11 & Union Terminal Market Historic District Efforts

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 5D will hold their monthly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at MPD's 5th District station (1805 Bladensburg Road).

The Historic Preservation Review Board continued a hearing scheduled for Sept. 22 on the historic district application for Union Terminal Market (a portion of the Florida Avenue Market). The district would cover the 1200   and 1300 blocks of Fourth and Fifth Streets and the 400 and 500 blocks of Morse Street. The delay is pursuant to a written request from ANC 5D for more time to gather constituent input. The new hearing will take place Nov 3.

WTOP talked to Brenda and Paul Pascal, who have ties to the Florida Avenue Market that stretch back quite a long way (including a family business dating back to the early days, and Mr. Pascal's activities as lawyer and spokesperson for many merchants and landowners in the area). Definitely worth a read and watch.

Pascal used to be notorious for representing all of the liquor stores along H street.
