Help Paint a Permanent Mural at Capital Fringe

IMG_1323

Capital Fringe (1358 Florida Avenue NE) is inviting friends and neighbors to help paint a mural at their Logan Fringe Arts Space will local artist and legend Bill Warrell and Captain Isabella Sparrow. Folks of all ages can participate, but Fringe has extended a special invitation to younger artists to collaborate with Warrell (young artists must be old enough to write their names).

The mural has a title: CHANTS OF GOLD: SUN RA ARKESTRA VISITS THE REAL 1984. It's inspired by photographs of Michael Wilderman, documenting the 1984 Halloween Cosmic Costume Ball at the Old Post Office Pavilion (now Trump International Hotel). Chants of Gold will permanently adorn the entrance to the renovated Logan Fringe Arts Space. That renovation is part of Capital Fringe's Phase 2 construction plans.

The painting will be a multi-day affair:

Saturday June 10 - 1–4 pm
Sunday June 11 - 1–4 pm
Monday June 12 - Noon–4 pm
Tuesday June 13 - 4–8 pm
Saturday June 17 - 1–4 pm
Sunday June 18 - 1–4 pm
