Victim Identified in Tuesday's Shooting Identified as DeAndre Riley



Police have identified the victim in Tuesday's fatal shooting in the 700 block of 18th Street NE. You'll recall the victim was located near 19th and Benning Road NE after having fled the scene of the shooting. In the map above the blue marker shows the site of the shooting, and the purple marker indicates where an officer encountered an injured Riley. The MPD statement appears below.

Homicide: 700 Block of 18th Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 700 block of 18th Street, Northeast on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. At approximately 7:24 pm, members of the Fifth District heard the sound of gunshots and responded to the area. Upon arrival, they located an unconscious adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 25-year-old DeAndre Riley, of Southeast, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department's TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.

For some reason google maps is showing wrong location for 700 block of 18th. Actual shooting happened in the on 18th between benning and H. Most likely in the alley that runs behind Food 7 store where he was found.

That might be my fault. I believe I put in 700 18th St NE to get a rough location for the block.
