Two Suspects Sought After 1 Year Old Boy Shot Near 13th Street [UPDATED]

A one year old child was shot tonight in the 1300 block of I Street NE. Police say the boy was conscious and breathing before being transported to a hospital. According to NBC 4 the child was in serious condition when taken to Children's National Medical Center, but he's now been upgraded to stable condition. The alert went out at 9:37 pm, but WUSA 9 is reporting the shooting happened about 9 pm. Police are searching for two suspects. The alert text appears below.

Police have now said the boy's injuries are non-life threatening. The child was caught in the crossfire during a dispute between two adults.

Metropolitan Police Chief Newsham tweeted earlier tonight "Happy to report that our 1 yr old victim was released from the hospital earlier today and is back at home! We will find the shooter #MPD."

there are ALWAYS people hanging out in that alley, right by the street. Sometimes cars are parked with their hoods up. Sad.
