Local Briefing: Ward 6 Candidates Forum Tonight & a Chance to Volunteer with LCA 5/19

Think Local First DC and Wunder Garten (1101 First Street NE) have teamed up to host a Ward 6 Council Candidate Forum tonight from 7:30–9:30pm. Think Local First DC is a group "dedicated to supporting local independent businesses in our nation’s capital. [The group's] mission is to transform Washington, D.C.’s economy by developing and implementing solutions that strengthen the local independent business community and improve its ability to make D.C. a more equitable, inclusive, and vibrant place to live." The forum will focus on issues related to local business policy. You can RSVP through Event Nation. This event is 21+, so please remember to bring ID.



Langston Civic Association (LCA) seeks volunteers for an upcoming service project at Browne Education Campus (850 26th Street NE). Browne is a DCPS school that educates over three hundred students from pre-K through eighth grade in the Langston Terrace community. LCA will partner with volunteers from The Mission Continues, an organization that "empowers veterans who are adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact." The service project will focus on cleaning and restoring the school’s courtyard. You can sign up through LCA's website to volunteer on Saturday, May 19th (9:15am–2pm).

The Langston Civic Association holds quarterly meetings, and their next one will take place Tuesday, June 5th at 7pm at the Rosedale Community Center (1701 Gales Street NE).
