Morning Briefing: Stellina Pizza, The Outsider, Kitsuen, & an ANC 5D Mtg

Stellina Pizza to Open in Union Market District
An ABRA application for a Retailer’s Class “C” Restaurant has been filed for Stellina Pizzeria at 399 Morse St. NE. The application calls for seating capacity of 40, total occupancy load of 60, and a sidewalk cafe with 20 seats. Proposed hours of operation are Sunday–Wednesday 11am–11:30pm and Thursday–Saturday 11am–12:30am. The protest petition deadline is September 17th, with a roll call hearing set for October 1st., and a protest hearing November 28th.



The Outsider to bring More Japanese Fare to H Street NE
Twitter user @Eat_DC spotted an application for The Outsider, a new Japanese restaurant coming to 1357–1359 H St. NE. The application comes from Aaron McGovern, who is also an owner of Biergarten Haus (1355 H St. NE) and Russia House (1800 Connecticut Ave. NE).  Plans call for a "Class “C” Tavern serving a full menu of Japanese fare, cocktails, beer, and wine" with a total occupancy load of 50 and seating for 49 patrons. Proposed hours of operation are Sunday–Thursday 8am–2am and Friday–Saturday 8am–3am. The protest petition deadline is September 24th, with a roll call hearing set for October 9th and a protest hearing on December 5th.

Kitsuen Files for an ABRA License on H
The notice for Kitsuen's (1362 H St. NE) application is in that second packet. They've applied for a Retailer’s Class “C” Tavern license. The application describes Kitsuen as "[a] tavern that will serve ramen noodles." Interior seating for 109, total occupancy load of 150, and a summer garden with seating for 50 patrons. Eater DC previously covered Kitsuen.

ANC 5D Monthly Meeting 8/14
Advisory Neighborhood Commission 5D will hold their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, August 14th at 7pm in the community room at 371 Morse St. NE.
