I ...Inked, I went on saturday and no bahn Mi yet... I had a pork and rice dish which was meh, my buddy had the Pho which he said was ok. I agree with the other posters the basil is whack and the service was laughable (but we actually got lucky and had no issues, but everybody around us did). The crispy spring rolls and dumplings were nothing to write home about.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8835710.post-9123965767148869102011-10-24T12:40:46.450-04:002011-10-24T12:40:46.450-04:00Andrew,

Seemed kind of odd for them to have stayed open, considering that they're a pho place....

I do wish them all the best though. I'd love to see a good Pho place in the neighborhood.andrewnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8835710.post-86586917588327294332011-10-23T13:34:54.481-04:002011-10-23T13:34:54.481-04:00I went two nights ago. It is good enough to satisfy the craving, but I do hope it gets better.

Ditto on the basil thing, the basil they are serving is some bizarre variation that doesn't even taste like basil. They need to fix this immediately.East_Hnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8835710.post-68194425807809992492011-10-21T17:01:37.263-04:002011-10-21T17:01:37.263-04:00Pho Real: We also went last night. But we got a different impression than you re: their broth. I eat a lot of pho -- I've eaten at dozens of pho places around the world, cook it myself on occasion, etc. -- and I have to say that I thought it was pretty bland broth. Importantly, it didn't taste *bad*, and it didn't commit the most common sin of pho joints in the U.S. of being insanely salty -- but it just didn't have that much flavor to it, IMHO. I went looking for beefiness, ginger and anise, and didn't find them. I got the impression that it's a "quick broth" rather than a real beef broth. They're convenient -- they only take a few hours to make rather than most of a day. But the broth is the most important part.

It was also very odd that the basil served with our pho appeared to not be Asian basil, but rather appeared to be Genoa basil -- a kind you'd find in Italian restaurants. And I agree with your comment re: the garden rolls (goi cuon).

We both will be back -- it didn't taste *bad*, not at all, and lots of places get better once they've got their legs under them. But we may give them a while first.Chrisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8835710.post-14117003080519283392011-10-21T14:12:29.457-04:002011-10-21T14:12:29.457-04:00I went last night. The garden rolls are skimped on the filling. The noodles in the pho were either over cooked or cheap. They should not break apart when trying to eat them.

I will say though, the broth of the pho was quite tasty.

The manager came to apologize for getting our order wrong, which I can appreciate. Also, they need to get real soup spoons for pho. I hope over the next couple of days/weeks they tweek the problems. I wish this place the best.Pho Realnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8835710.post-87591729495220611882011-10-21T11:16:04.248-04:002011-10-21T11:16:04.248-04:00they do not have any bubbletea yetthey do not have any bubbletea yetAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8835710.post-915145289786647312011-10-21T10:28:47.135-04:002011-10-21T10:28:47.135-04:00Anyone know the hours this place is open?Anyone know the hours this place is open?oboenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8835710.post-91070606691466028112011-10-20T13:48:50.703-04:002011-10-20T13:48:50.703-04:00This round-eye will be ordering some round-eyeThis round-eye will be ordering some round-eyeDave Bnoreply@blogger.com
