QFQ: Fenty Says He Would Sign Noise Fix

David Klavitter (Quest for Quiet) & his neighbors near 8th & H may soon be able to enjoy their weekends more. Our mayor-to-be recently attended an ANC 6A meeting where he expressed a willingness to sign (and enforce) a bill that would close the loophole in noise regs that currently allows the weekend amplified speech at the busy intersection of 8th & H Street.     Nice. Fenty is a machine...he's everywhere. I'm glad he heard from the ANC folks to not forget about H St development.
    In other news I hope his incoming police chief's strategy of more community policing helps reduce incidents like last night's volley of like eight to ten shots fired on Orren St. That's also a loud noise we could do without.

    I attended both Fenty's Ward 6 Roundtable and the ANC 6A meeting attended by Fenty, where he addressed a list of specific issues raised by the ANC. I have to say I am favorably impressed with Fenty and his team's sincere desire to identify city priorities "from the ground up"--by finding out a best they can what citizens' prime concerns are.

    He appears to have a good grasp of the issues facing H Street and the wider neighborhood (or at least he was well prepared by his team), and expressed a sincere desire to address those needs. The proof, of course, is in the pudding, but hopefully the administration's actions will follow their words.
