WP: Metro Fare Hikes in Limbo
Following a large public outcry Metro is holding off on raising fares. Metro ridership is up in recent years costs are rising as Metro needs additional cars to ferry these new riders. The budget shortfall for fiscal 2008 is $116 million.
They could save tons of $$ by simplifying the driver's uniforms. Have you really looked at a driver? The metro logo is on the tie, buttons, shirt, cap, jacket, belt buckle...no doubt even the socks.
Guys, please be polite. Remember that these people are your neighbors. I ask also that anonymous users leave some kind of tag [e.g. big green cat] for the sake of being able to follow a thread. Be respectful and have fun.
This is great news! Raising fares is about the worst way they could try to close their budget deficit.
