A message from SOVA:
More than a year after R&B Coffee closed, I'm proud to say that SOVA has arrived. I received my C of O on Monday, and passed my health inspection this afternoon. I immediately went down to the DCRA building to pick up my business license, so I have everything I need to open. This coming Monday (Veterans Day), Nov. 12th, I will officially open the doors at 6:30 am.
The hours for SOVA (pre-alcohol license) will be as follows.
Mon - Friday, opening at 6:30 am
Saturday, opening at 7:00 am
Sunday, opening at 8:00 am (this is subject to change to 7:00 if there's enough demand from the neighborhood to open at that time on a Sunday)
Closing hours will be as follows
Sun - Thurs., 9pm
Fri. - Sat., Midnight (this time is also subject to change to 11pm if there is not enough demand)
Look forward to serving you all.
Frank Hankins
Congratulations Frank! I'm sure I'm not the only future patron excited about this. SOVA is located at 1359 H Street.

That is great news; we have all been waiting for anxiously for SOVA to open. Congratulations, Frank.
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo! Finally!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Frank, your persistence and perseverance in the face of many obstacles has finally paid off.
This is great news! I will be there on Monday!
ReplyDeleteIf you opened at 6a, that would be even better for us morning folk. Jus' sayin'...
Looking forward to seeing you there Frank! Best wishes, your former neighbor (whose house break-in you witnessed and reported) Mark.
ReplyDeleteBig ups Frank.
ReplyDeleteWill there be wi-fi? (free?)
great news! i'll be there monday!
ReplyDeletecongratulations!
I look forward to the opening and checking it out.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear! I love that it's on the eastern side of H.
ReplyDeleteWi-fi question:
ReplyDeleteYes....Free wi-fi. There will be a card with a code provided to patrons that can be used to access the internet.
See you Monday morning

i drive by every few days to see if i can get me some black cat. tomorrow, my wait will be over.
ReplyDeleteexcited for coffee diversity in DC...
see you very soon.
-ryan from CCC
really decent coffee!!! I'm happy.
ReplyDeleteWe stopped in last night. It's great...downstairs the rooms are as they were w/ R&B, with different decor (warm colors, brass, very nice). The front room uses the space better so there is a nice seating area up front. The back room has a big screen TV (I hope Frank has a good alarm & video surveillance system). Upstairs has been rearranged so there's just one big room just as you top the stairs, with plenty of seating. Where R&B's bar was has been walled off...storage or office space?
ReplyDeleteThe coffee was strong and good :-) and there were a number of people there even up to closing time.
Is there food served at SOVA? I'm planning on heading down there later on and am not sure if i need to eat up before hand?
ReplyDeleteRight now it's just breakfast stuff (pastries, bagels, muffins, scones) and dessert stuff (tortes, ect.). So no sandwich/soup/salad stuff.
ReplyDeleteAwww Rats.
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to raid my fridge now before heading down
thanks inked

Sitting in Sova as I write this!
ReplyDeleteFrank and his team are great, and I love the atmosphere. This is definitely going to become a regular haunt for me in the near future.
If you haven't come by yet - do it!
