  1. Congrats on the mention in the article.

  2. Was that an elaborate advertisement for the circus?

  3. I know right @akire... I was kind of lost with the mention of the cirucs.

  4. you know what would make H St. better? Tiger cubs. we should tie a bunch of them to the street lights up and down the entire length of H. it will be our neighborhood's ``thing.'' come for the tiger cubs stay for the sandwiches, pies and mini golf. H St., Grrrrrreat St!

  6. It's encouraging to hear that the construction is set to be completed by next winter (although construction schedules have been known to slip). Almost without realizing it, I've spent less time on H Street over the past year, in large part due to the construction. It's just not very pleasant to maneuver around in that area with the roads torn up, few parking spaces, etc. I hope the businesses that are there now can hold on for what certainly looks like brighter days ahead.

  7. OMG this would be GREAT! Imagine Tigers chasing down and eating thug criminals. I mean most are super scared of dogs I would believe that these Tigers would be better than police officers. Clearly the thugs aren't scared of them.

    Bring on the Tigers!!

  8. brighter days ahead indeed. That's what the article is trying to say. Have you guys seen the comments left on the article? Nothing but people full of bitterness and hatred for the area.
I have to disagree with businesses taking a hit during the construction. If anything, I've seen business skyrocket since construction began.

  11. where's the lot on 13th and h? is it hidden by old tiger cages? has any one heard about the new ticket cost for parking in the auto zone? i've been told that it's now a $250 ticket and a second offense is $1000. especially fun when they walk by someone working on their car to give you a parking ticket.

This brings up a question I've always wondered: why "thug criminals"? Is this just an innocent way of, you know, distinguishing droopy-pants-wearing, be-dreadlocked, baseball cap wearing "thug criminals" from the decent shaggy-haired, meth-smoking, Lynard Skynard-listening "non-thug criminal"?

Or is the use of "thug" just a racial dog-whistle used by stupid racist trolls who are too hapless to hit the submit button only once.

Forgive me if my natural curiosity seems forward.

  13. I was also wondering about the thug vs tiger cub comments. But I decided to let is pass, considering that the commenters obviously didn't bother to read the whole article. If they did, they would known that those cubs were born a century ago at 15th and h, when the circus came to town.

  14. anon 1:52 - washington post comments are ALWAYS full of bitterness and hatred. try reading the comments on any article about immigration.

  15. "thug criminals" is reserved for brute force street crimes and vandalism.

if you've lived elsewhere, you know that street crime comes in all colors.

its not racist. well, except maybe to some Indians, but i'd guess thats not what you meant.
