I've been hearing for months that the guys behind Taylor Gourmet would open a pizza place in the old Steak & Ice spot at 1320 H Street. I first got the heads up from @DCExplorer way back in November. I generally try to avoid running rumors about places closing (out of sensitivity to owners & staff), so I held off on mentioning it. But another source tells me that the new pizza place will open very soon. I don't have a name yet, but look for something to happen in the very near future.
In other pizza news, I talked to a worker outside of NewCiti Pizza the other day and he said they were planning to re-open.

I think that's great, particularly under the circumstances of the closing.
this is true, the 1300 block is really lacking in places to score pizza...

3) Hopefully a return of New Citi Pizza
to name a few.
I have to agree with the previous poster - I think H street and the surrounding area have enough great pizza spots. What in the world are they thinking?????

ReplyDeleteI'll give them a shot. I dont love the idea of creating a business that there are already plenty of options for, but if they have good pizza...I'll go. Sicilian has my dedicated delivery business. &Pizza and Liberty Tree have my eat in business. Looking forward to trying New Citi if they reopen. Good luck to Taylor, I actually liked Steak and Ice better than their standard concept sandwiches. Wish they had not shut it down.

ReplyDeleteH Street doesn't have everything, but we have an overabundance of Pizza shops and it's hard to see how one more could survive. They should be more creative and think about things we don't have already.
A tapas place maybe? Or maybe a legitimate Italian place with good pasta? Think about what we don't have already and start that up.
