Frenchie's Bakery from Sarah Cannon on Vimeo.
Frenchie's Artisan Pastries, a longtime staple/sensation at the H Street Freshfarm Market, (Saturdays, 9-12 noon, at 13th & H) will make its permanent home at Maketto (1351 H St NE), according to a recent article in the Post. With Vigilante Coffee already on board, this brings a very enticing new breakfast spot option to the east end of H, as well as serving our caffeine and sweet tooth needs throughout the day. Rounding out the eclectic market, Durkl will serve your fashion needs and Toki Underground's Eric Bruner-Yang will add Asian fare to the mix.
Any ETA on opening date for Maketto? Why does it take so long for things to open? What's up with Ocopa, Po Boy Jims, etc etc?
ReplyDelete10:45,
ReplyDeleteProbably early fall. There are lots of hoops to jump through when you open a place. The good thing is that we have multiple new places that just opened. Impala, Halftime Sports Bar & The Prospect are all brand new & waiting to be explored.
Impala. haha. we waited 3 years for that place to open. haha
ReplyDelete11:04,
ReplyDeleteIt was a long wait, but it's open & the food is very good. It's also the most vegan friendly full service Mexican restaurant I've ever seen.
The Prospect? Is there a new place I'm unaware of?
ReplyDeleteI think she meant The Pursuit
ReplyDelete11:17 & 11:24,
ReplyDeleteI did mean The Pursuit. Sorry, I keep doing that.
Ahh...nice place - good grilled cheese. I'm hoping dessert is the next thing to make it on Pursuit's menu!
ReplyDeleteby the time this place opens, durkl isnt going to be cool anymore if it even is/was
ReplyDeleteSo the place that got a $80k grant in taxpayer money reserved for non-food places will have a bakery?
ReplyDelete6:37,
ReplyDeleteThey can serve food, they just have to have a non-food component (i.e., the retail).
Po boy jims is now open, according to their Facebook page!!
ReplyDeletepastries are good, but artisal pastries are even better
ReplyDelete*artisan
ReplyDeleteReally? May have to get lunch there!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see that they're artisan pastries, but are they also locally-sourced, sustainable, free-range and fair-trade?
ReplyDeletei hope they are unfair trade, personally.
