Suspect Arrested in Non-Fatal Shooting of Two on X2 Bus

DELONTE-BROWN

Metro Transit Police have arrested the man suspected of shooting and injuring two people when he fired into a crowded Metrobus following a verbal altercation. They have also identified the female person of interest who was traveling with Brown at the time of the shooting.

The full press release appears below:

Metro Transit Police have arrested Delonte Eric BROWN of Southeast Washington, DC, in connection with Monday night's shooting of two passengers aboard an X2 Metrobus.

Transit Police detectives arrested BROWN overnight in Prince George's County on a charge of Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He is currently awaiting extradition to the District of Columbia where other charges may be added.

The shooting happened about 10:20 p.m. Monday, January 19, in the 100 block of H Street NW. The eastbound X2 bus was stopped at a bus stop when a male passenger exited through the rear door, turned and fired at least one round into the bus. Two victims, ages 21 and 47, sustained non-life-threatening injuries -- one to the hand and the other to the thigh -- and were transported to a local hospital.

Within 90 minutes of the shooting, Metro Transit Police released surveilance photos of a "person of interest," subsequently identified as BROWN. A second person of interest, a female in the company of BROWN, was also identified by detectives late yesterday.

  4. So many shootings these past few weeks, it seems like something bigger is going on that we aren't being told about. None seem random.

  5. The X2 is *scary*.

  6. Someone has anger issues and has made
    poor life choices.

He could well be facing 2 counts of Attempted
Murder and 50 years in jail....

He will likely get 2 counts of ADW, and
    probably pull 15.

  7. Good. I hope he gets the maximum. I agree with 1:06 - This is another form of terrorism. I'm sure the people on the bus were terrified. Hopefully they'll catch the woman.

  8. Douchebag. Hope he gets the max. He could have killed a kid. My kid. We ride the X2 every week.
So my neighbor, who is a cop, says he thinks the uptick in the random violent assaults is due to anger over the verdicts of the police involved in the shooting/choking deaths. Regardless, I don't excuse the actions of the asshole who shoots into a bus or stabs a random bicyclist...
there is no excuse or explanation for that type of demented, violent behavior.

  9. Thanks for censoring (as usual), Inked. I said: 15 years? That's plenty of time to lift weights and convert to Islam. Its a reference, as in, a joke that some will recall. What is this a Charlie Hebdo effect? Censorship sucks, let people have their say especially if you don't even get that its a fucking joke. Ridiculous.

  10. Your obligatory internet reminder that a private blog owner has both the right and in many cases the privilege to censor any and all comments they deem offensive, irritating, stupid, or unnecessary on their own blog. You want a FreEZePEaCH platform of your very own, start your own blog. Or get a twitter account.

  11. Members of the community will have the opportunity to weigh in at sentencing by filing a "victim impact statement."

  12. 10:36,
Clearly your appreciation of racist jokes is just more sophisticated than mine. Other comments I deleted from this post used the words monkey and darkie. I assume you would prefer those to have remained up too, no?

  13. What this young man did is deplorable but lets have the courage to say that he is a product of a culture. We as a society are culpable when any one member of society does what Delonte has done. Some see a criminal going to jail where be belongs. I see a kid who just lost the rest of his life and when he gets out will have little choice but to do more crime. We need to evolve our thinking about poor and lower classes in a society and how to eradicate them, not belittle them.

  14. Guess Delonte hasn't heard thablack lives matter ?

  15. At Anon 8:57.
Eradicate them? Really? How about improve lives and living conditions instead of eradicate poor and lower classes in society?

Don't be obtuse or argue semantics. Eradicating the poor and middle class by improving living conditions and equalizing wealth distribution is clearly what I meant. This type of trolling for an argument is why nothing is ever accomplished by people.

  17. And I meant lower not middle. God forbid a typo turns into a witch hunt.

  18. Do we have a shot/death count for the X2? I know that dude was killed hopping off a few years ago...

  19. Hilarious, product of his environment and we should do more for the poor. This scumbag has had his housing and food paid for by taxpayers since we paid for his unplanned birth. It's the constant handouts that create these monsters. They feel no responsibility to our community and that's when these incidents occur.

You can't have black lives matter on one side of town and then young Delonte on the other.

  20. @2:20
No one creates these monsters. They are born, and breed, and will continue.

You cant place blame for their existence nor can you make excuses for their choices. Their lives don't matter and never will.
Only hardworking people who love and care matter and no one give them a second thought either
