Here's the latest:
* There's a gym on the way in the 1100 block or so.
* Harris Teeter is for sure moving into the BP/Amoco spot. It will feature apartments or condoes as well.
* Over 60% of the units in Senate Place were sold in the first offering for condos. Not 60% of all the units, just that amount in the first buidling for sale.

Harris Teeter would be a dream come true, however the last we heard they had only authored a letter of interest. A letter of interest is definitly not a done deal. Has there been more development that you know of? The site itself seems to be deteriorating. The barriers are constantly falling down.

A letter of interest is significant. I think that would be a very good spot for them (right next to the metro, Safeway a mile away & condos right across the street).

The gym is slated for the 1100 block of H? Please clarify. Thanks!

The gym I mentioned in the early post is going into 1005 H Street (assuming that it is a gym that's going in there.

That's the correct address for the gym, I think. The building is owned by Anwar Saleem although we won't be operating the gym.

The Harris Teeter will be a while in coming because to the project will violate the new zoning regs. The regulations are great, but they will certainly slow down this important project. My concern is that if the economy goes south then this project won't get built at all. Therefore, let's hope the Planning Dept. puts approval on the front burner.

Who do we need to get in touch with at the Planning Department to express our interest in Harris Teeter and our concern for this project to come to fruition?

Anyone go to the Martini Lounge? Comments?

I went on Saturday. It was crowded--its a small space so filled up fast. They had live jazz upstairs, but it was too crowded to go up there. Its good they got a good turnout.

One of the best bar experiences I've had in the District. Great vibe. Only downside was the price for a Martini. $12 is a little steep. Otherwise the place looked incredible.
