Housing Complex: About Those Kiosk Libraries...

IMG_3782

Housing Complex contemplates the future of kiosk libraries like the former R.L. Christian Library on H Street. These particular libraries are interesting because they are technically portable, and thus could be relocated to other places in the District, or anywhere else. Eventually a new building will go up on that space, but let's put that aside a moment. How would you use such a kiosk?

I would totally put one in ivy city! Gawd knows they need one! I believe that it would be fully utilized day and night, because of the thirst they have for knowledge in that part of dc. Perhaps they could rotate it from block to block, just to accommodate everyone that might need to access it and not have the means to travel dozens of feet from their rental unit. Wait, if they provide wifi, they could save money by just staying in the same place for over a month! This is the best.idea.ever! They could provide folks with desktops, or rent out ipads by the hour for the folks that have more particular needs. This is like electricity for the needy, it should ben a guaranteed right like it is in koreas, and such as. (a small reference to that question and answer session with that ms. America candidate sometime back, and such as. I don't understand why we don't have more of these things in the Capitol of the free world. Crazy, I tell ya!

Put them on some of these vacant lots being land banked by developers and churches and let them sell coffee and pastries and sandwiches. The Bible Way property on K St between 3rd and 4th would be a good place to start.
