Puppy Killer Pleads Guilty

24 year old Sean Delontay Branch had plead guilty to killing a puppy named King Tut in a Trinidad alley in June. Branch was angry with the dog's owner, and dropped a 90 pound chunk of concrete on the puppy's head while it slept.

Branch will be sentenced November 27th. He faces up to five years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

From the flyer:

On Friday June 29th 2012, King Tut, a 6-month old brindle and white puppy, had a large block of cement dropped on his head while he was sleeping. This incident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. behind the Circle Seven Express store at 1209 Mount Olivet Road, NE. The injuries to the puppy were fatal. The suspect is a light-skinned African-American male, medium-build, in his late 20s.

The Washington Humane Society desperately needs the help of the community for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this horrific act of animal cruelty. The Washington Humane Society is offering a $2,500.00 reward that will be given to any person who provides such information.

The original post (with comments) about the killing is here.

I hope this idiot gets to go away for a while. Fend for youself in prison, friend, and perhaps you'll be forced to learn some new methods of communication... then again, maybe you'll just learn what it feels like to be helpless and afraid.

I think jail time is a bit harsh for this type of crime. Maybe a fine is more approps.

Throw the book at him. If someone would do that to a defenseless puppy, they would hesitate to attack a person.

I disagree with you, Anon 3:13. Jail time is entirely appropriate for someone who is incapable of managing his own anger and yet capable of killing a defenseless puppy. His behavior was totally irrational and inexcusable.

We have to keep in mind though that it was just a puppy. We can't really lock someone up for this type of crime. Maybe some community service is better because then our tax dollars aren't wasted on a disproportionate punishment.

Maybe we could just give him a group hug!!

The law says up to five years in prison and a $25,000 fine. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

As a home-owning tax paying citizen, I'll gladly pay more to lock up punk thug suckers.

Hmm...what was it I wrote about comments that make no sense at all often being troll comments? 3:13? Anyone?

There are people who murdered actual people who didn't even serve five years in prison. I love dogs but there is clearly a disconnect here.

I don't recall there being as much outrage for the dozens of young men that lose their lives yearly in Trinidad/H Street area. Wonder why?

12:56 & 1:01,
I agree that there is a disconnect here. I think part of that comes from the graphic photo. I just don't want a guy who would do something like that to a sleeping dog walking around my neighborhood. It was mentioned on another blog that the puppy killer also might have a history of domestic violence.

@Anon 1:01

Because a lot of those young men are "in the game" so to speak and I think most of us are hoping they just all kill each other off.

To those of you idiots who think jail time is too harsh a punishment, I hope this animal gets community service and moves next door to you. Enjoy, POS.

anon @ 12:37,

I don't think you speak for "most of us" or even a sizable number of us. I don't want to see anyone get killed in my neighborhood. Clearly you and I look at the value of human life differently.

It's a Damn dog!!! Fine him and who cares....there's plenty at the shelters that all you so called "dog-lovers" have forgotten about.
