This Saturday (July 11) is your chance to celebrate Bastille Day a little early, complete with can-can dancers, a New Orleans style brass marching band, burlesque dancers, and the royal guests of honor, King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette. It's all happening at the newly opened Wunder Garten (150 M Street), a 300 seat Bavarian style beer garden that offers Austrian, and German beers, as well as select regional microbrews.

This DC Bastille Day celebration started over a decade ago, but this is its first year at the new location. The event runs from 3-10pm. From the announcement:

The signature folly of the event, the world-famous ‘French Maid Relay Race,’ will take place at approximately 6pm in which racers, men and women, must each wear the risqué black and white maid costume while running back and forth across the street in order to fill a Champagne glass with soup spoons of water. Très chic! Contenders must pre-purchase a costume, with ticket purchase, before the limited supply is sold out.
Revelers can sip the official beer of Bastille Day, Stella Artois, or enjoy Leffe, Stella Cidre, red or white wine, or champagne. DC Slices and Crepes Parfait food trucks will be on hand to keep you well-fed. Tickets are $7, and must be purchased online in advance. This event is 21+ only.

Wunder Garten's sister business L’Enfant Café invites participants to join them in Adams Morgan for for a festive celebration on actual Bastille Day (July 14th).
