Local Briefing: Last Days of Liberty Tree, Bar Elena Opening Soon, Shop for SOME Today
The Last Days of Liberty Tree
If you want to make it to Liberty Tree (1016 H Street NE) before they close for good you don't have much time left. Their final dinner service will be on Friday from 5–10 pm.
Bar Elena Close to Opening
Local blog District Cuisine notes that there's a craigslist ad up indicating that Bar Elena (414 H Street NE) is hiring front of the house staff. The ad suggests that we might anticipate an early November opening for the restaurant and bar that will replace Boundary Road. The ad also says Bar Elena will be open seven days a week and offer weekend brunch, which is consistent with what we've heard previously.
Support SOME by Shopping at Whole Foods Today
Shop at any Whole Foods in the District, or Northern Virginia today (10/25) and you'll be helping to support SOME (So Others May Eat). SOME works to help the poor and homeless in our area. SOME tries to "meet the immediate daily needs of the people [they] serve with food, clothing, and health care. [SOME] help[s] break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness." Whole Foods will donate 5% of their net sales today from 13 area stores to SOME.
