I don't know the story, but I'm told that Anwar Saleem (the proprietor of Hair Rage and the owner of several H Street properties) owners that building, so he might be the guy to ask. I really like this piece, and I feel it is almost like a mascot for H Street (H Street, like the phoenix, is literally rising from the flames [of the riots] in a kind of rebirth). I love the phoenix.
