Cluck U Chicken on H Street?
According to a message sent out on the HSMS listserv a Cluck U Chicken franchise is opening up at 1123 H St. NE. I noticed renovation work at this address (right next to Family dollar) this weekend, I had not yet heard what was going on. It seems a bit strange to stick a fried chicken chain into this spot when you already have Horace & Dickie's, Popeye's & Danny's right down the street. In fact, I'm pretty sure you couldn't go more than two blocks without finding a a place to get wings if you started at 14th and walked west on H all the way to the Abdo condo site.

Ugh...another one :( Cluck that!
If it was a 5 Guys would you still be beefin?
I've never eaten at a 5 Guys. I just think another chicken place seems a tad redundant. For burgers we have McDonald's & Philadelphia Water Ice Factory, and I'm sure some of those places like Danny's probably sell burgers (and we will have burgers at the Olympic). I think lots of people would prefer to see a little something different on H Street, as opposed to more fast food, hair braiding, liquor stores, discount stores, or check cashing places. I have no problem with a limited number of these places on H Street (except for the check cashing places, whose space I would prefer to see sit vacant), but right now they represent the vast majority of businesses on H. Is 5 Guys supposed to hold some particular signifigance?
Come on, people. It's fried chicken, not a toxic waste dump!
