Biz Journal Article on H Street

Courtesy of the HSMS listserv: There is a recent article on H Street and how much the retail prospects have changed recently. Here is a link, but because the article requires (free) registration you have to go to the Washington market (upper right side of the page) and then search for "Atlas."

Some of us growing up in "company towns" have concerns about a single player owning so many booze joints in a two block area. He already has undue influence on ANC6A and city officials and he hasn't opened a single place.

I know it seems like a lot of places, but I think that he's trying to create critical mass. People won't travel out of their way for 1 bar, but they might go for an area that contains a few bars, a few restaurants, some theaters, & a coffee shop. You might try sending an email asking about this on the HSMS listserve. Joe Englert seems to be answering queries that are posted.

I don't know how new this "news" is. For sometime Clark Realty has planned to redevelop the "Old Sears" site into housing. This article merely communicates an update of those plans.

Yeah, I don't think the article gives any new info, but it is nice to see the area in the news for positive reasons.
