H Street Farm Fresh Market to Return Saturday

The farmers' market is set to return this Saturday. The market is held in a parking lot in the 600 block of H Street. The hours (new hours) are from 8:30am-12:30pm. Remember to show up early for popular items (particularly the breads from Atwater Bakers).

With Uptown Bakers just wheelbarrow-distance from the freshfarm H Street market, is it strange that the freshfarm baker comes instead from far away, in a giant truck?

Uptown only sells wholesale since they closed their store on upper Connecticut ave. They don't seem to sell their bread anywhere on the hill. I actually love their sourdough and southwestern breads.

Atwater's has much more than bread to offer like the very best scones, cookies and chocolate brownies... I'm really looking forward to the market opening. The berries are sweeter, the veggies snappier and tastier.

I believe Uptown has actually shut down their area operations. They are moving to Hyattsville. Atwater has an existing relationship with the Farm Fresh Markets. These relationships allow Farm Fresh to bring farmers into neighborhoods they might not normally go to (they have a market in Anacostia, for instance). Anyway, I really like Atwater's breads. If Aroma Dough (6th & H) opens up any time soon you could always buy your bread there.
