Metrobus Article
Here is a nice article from today's Post on a review criticizing the Metrobus system & proposing ways to improve.

I'm betting no METRO official has ever ridden the X2. If they did, they'd double the number of busses on the route. The bus is always crowded, even in non peak times. I think if a bus came every 5 minutes, it would attract enough riders to pay for itself.
That is a very crowded route. I also get annoyed by the fact that you wait and wait and then finally two or even three buses come at once. Even so, I think that the X2 runs much more frequently and consistently than most other buses in the city (although I do feel like a see an S2 or S4 every couple of minutes when I wait at 13th & H NW). I even took the X2 to work when the metrorail was closed due to snow.
The X2 is a very convenient east-west route, and would be more so if it ran on time.
When you experience problems on the X2 (off schedule, bunching), be sure to send a comment to WMATA via their webpage to be sure they aware of the problem.
I sent a comment to WMATA about the X2 timeliness, bunching and fact that there was no sitting room by the time I got on at 13th St. I would encourage everyone to send comments so that there is a record of these problems.
Don't forget to drop a note to DDOT in favor of a subway/trolley cars running from 15th St. to gallery place or beyond. At least the trolley cars are on the table.
To WMATA's credit, they've added 4 buses to the X2 route and realize there are still problems. While there doesn't seem to be a solution on the immediate horizon, they said:
"Route X2 is among the top six Metrobus lines for ridership. The Benning Road-H Street corridor is one of several corridors that we are studying in conjunction with the District Department of Transportation for major transit service improvements, which could include either a RapidBus service with limited stops or a new streetcar system . . . ."
