Overgrown on H

Following up on last week's post about trash I thought we might take a look at tree boxes. Here are a few photos from the 1300 block (shot Saturday morning). I particularly like how some of the plants are taller than the pay phone! P1010129

Slightly excessive, no? And it looks like someone else has been thinking the same thing.

Please:

When you see these places that you are writing/reading about, do the neighborhood a favor and take down the addresses, then use them to submit a service request for "grass & weeds mowing" or "rats (abatement)" to the Mayor's Call Center (727-1000), or online at http://src.dc.gov/ccc/ccclogin.asp.

Private property owners will be given notice of the weed problem. If they fail to abate the problem, they will be billed for the city's clean up of their overgrown weeds. If the problem is on public property, the city will clear the weeds on the spot. The city's response to weeds is startlingly quick, unlike some other problems.

If the weeds fall between the 1200 & 1400 blocks of Linden, H St., or Wylie St. NE, I'll be glad to take the service number and make sure something gets done. E-mail it to me at thelunasATspeakeasy.net .

H Street needs all the help it can get.

Ha ha, did you hear the hooting of tropical birds and the screaching of monkeys from that jungle? What block is that...I missed that area this weekend.
How did the garden meeting go?

I try to put in service requests, although I don't always do it. One issue I've had is that 727-1000 doesn't want to take reports about razor wire. Do you know to whom I should direct these?

Email the Mayor. mayor@http://dc.gov/mayor/index.shtm

It usually works!

I called 727-1000 about some graffiti that needed to be removed at the corner of G and 10th, in front of the women's shelter, and it was removed within a week. Not bad at all!

Maybe 727-1000 will do the trick for this issue as well.

Oh, don't worry. I called before, so hopefully we'll see something happen soon.
