I noticed last week that they were cleaning out the inside of Da Place (vitamins, books, some health food items -400 block of H Street) & had more than the usual selection of furniture sitting out front. Are they closing/relocating/renovating? Anyone know?

Yes, they are moving and a group is taking the space over for a center that promotes wellness. Isn't that what Bro. Bey did? I'm going to miss him and his generous bag of cashews for only $2. A couple years ago, when I was checking out H St. for a place to buy a house, Bro. Bey's place was the first stop for me. He put together an impromtu rap song about me, my cold (he sold me some zinc)and the West Coast (where I was living at the time). I know you all probably thought his place was an eye sore, but for me, it sealed the deal and I bought a house 1/2 block off of H Street. Change marches on, but I will always fondly remember Bro. Bey and some of the really cool people I met at Da Place.
I saw that email. Sounds like they want to do something not too far from what brother Bey had set up. Any idea where he is going?
Well, he was dx'd w/prostate cancer so I imagine he is going to be focusing on trying to fight a good fight.

I met Bro. Bey last year. Warm heart, cool cat.
There was talk about his passing a couple of weeks ago. I was relieved that it was a false alarm but now I see it was a drill.
But then again life is a drill...

Brother Bey, Our Beloved Soldier, transitioned on Sunday, Oct. 3rd 2010. A Homegoing/ Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, Oct. 8th at 11:00am @ Union Temple Baptist Church, 1225 W St. Washington, DC. The viewing will take place from 9am-11am proceeding the service.
Brother Bey will be remembered dearly for blessing so many people & sharing his wealth of knowledge in the Health & Wellness arena.
He was certainly an icon in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
Long live the spirit of the incredible Brother Bey!!
