Did anyone go? What did you think?

I was impressed with Smoky's ribs and the Martini Lounge space...

We had some plans Saturday night downtown but were going to stop at the Martini Lounge on our way home. However, it was closed at 10:15!
What gives?

I heard that they had a last minute change of plans & that they won't be officially open (I guess some people got to see the space on Saturday) until October 14th.

We did go in for a tour. They alluded to a health inspector delay but say the plan is a definite opening on the 14th. Space reminded me a little of Tapastini, or at least the layout. More modern than retro, though. Upstairs had a small stage for live bands, which will be broadcast downstairs on the plasma screen behind the bar. Owners were really nice, can't wait for the big day. They were saying that Martini Lounge is sadwiched between two other Englert spaces that will be opening in the next year. New rumor a bit removed from H Street - the abandoned dry cleaner on the corner of L and 6th is being converted to a coffee shop. The owner said she hopes to pick up all the morning commuters on their way to the metro. I know I'll support her.
