Neighborhood Night @ the Martini Lounge
Here's the info:
Hello all,
Now that H Street Martini Lounge is open for business, we are going to host a mixer for all the wonderful neighbors in the community. We want to thank those for their support, and also invite the community out to one of the newest establishments in your own neighborhood.
To give you a little information about the lounge right here on H Street, we cater to mostly a mature clientele. The lounge offers a large variety of premium Martinis, in addition to non-alcoholic drinks and light appetizers. We also offer live jazz entertainment.
We would love for the community to come out on Wednesday November 2, 2005 and join H Street Martini Lounge for a "Neighbors Night Out". To show our appreciation we will offer complimentary passed hors d'oeuvres between 6-7pm and $5 Fresh Fruitini Martinis all night.
The address is 1236 H Street, NE. Please join us. We cannot wait to meet and greet each and every one of you.
Thank you,
H Street Martini Lounge Staff

The lounge is a great and welcoming site to the neighborhood. If you haven’t been, GO! The staff and the owner Cliff are very pleasant.

Anybody know when The Pug is going to open? I noticed the window sign is up.
I beleive the original plan was for a Nov, or Dec opening. But these things can be a little unpredictable. I think they still have some work to do inside.
I really enjoyed the grand opening but $12 for a martini, whoa.
I like the Lounge, but $10/per drink was kind of steep. I hope new spots are not as expensive.
$10+ for a drink is just to make sure the "right" clientel start coming in (I assume). Once H street cleans up I'd imagine prices would go back down...or at least cheaper offerings would spring up.
I day dream often of a bar walking distance from home that serves $1.00 PBR in cans...can't wait for that day. :)
You can't make any money selling $1 cans of beer, not paying rents in excess of $30/s.f., plus having to pay staff, buy inventory, insurance, utilities, trash collection, etc. Plus who wants to serve people (as a restauranteur) if all they want to do is pay $1 for stuff. That's what stores and streetcorners are for...
Although I think that a $10-$12 drink is way more than I'd ever pay. Fortunately I am not a fan of vodka.
Anyway, relating to the point of setting pricing as a way of saying who you want in your establishment, check out the cover story of the city paper on store enclosures.
You've got a point there. Not only was it one of the most expensive drinks I've ever had (outside of NYC) but one of the strongest :-) Definitely merited nursing. I'm just glad the place is there and that its stylish look offsets the garish colors of some of the other new places.
To all the wonderful neighbors in the community, the letter below will be disbursed to everyone who attends the Neighbors Night Out. The Martini Lounge does offer other drinks other than what is offered on the premium martini menu; also we now have two Happy Hours to accommodate your schedule. Please see the letter below and we hope to see everyone this evening:
Welcome Neighbors,
Thank you visiting H Street Martini Lounge for the first Neighbor’s Night Out. We want to be able to meet you as well as provide a hosting place for you to meet with each other. H Street Martini Lounge is here to serve “you”, the community. Our goal is to provide you with great customer service, and we will also like our neighbors to feel at home when they enter.
At H Street Martini Lounge we offer a large assortment of premium martinis. Some of these martinis offered on the menu have 2-3 or more premium liquors or liqueurs. We also offer great local live jazz entertainment with no cover charge 4 days a week for after work relaxation or weekend fun. As we are in tuned with the community’s feedback, we also want to acknowledge that H Street Martini Lounge not only offers a premium martini menu, but is also a full service bar with other drinks with a lower cost. For example, we have a line of fruit flavored martinis, or Fruitinis that are offered at $5.00 everyday. In addition we offer a daily Happy Hour with $3 beers, $3 House Wine by the Glass, and $5 rail drinks. And for those who cannot make our Monday-Friday 4pm-7pm Happy Hour, we run the Happy Hour again every Monday-Friday from 10pm-12am. Now where can you go for live jazz entertainment, friendly atmosphere and two Happy Hours? Right in your own neighborhood.
So just relax, take a load off and welcome to your new home on H Street.
H Street Martini Lounge.
Thank you again for your time spent with us.
Cheers,
H Street Martini Lounge Staff
