Today's post features this article on developers vying for Sursum Corda's land. Sursum Corda, located west of the NY Ave station, is a notorious subsidized housing development. About a year ago a fourteen year old girl was murdered there to prevent her from talking to police about a drug related killing she had witnessed. Sursum Corda ("lift up your heart") was originally viewed as model public housing. Over time, hoever, it eventually walked the same tragic path so many other "model" public housing developments have, and slid into chaos. It will be very interesting to see what happens next.
