Indicted Former ANC Comm. to Represent Self
Don't miss this latest Voice of the Hill article on indicted former ANC Commissioner Hall. Hall, who was indicted by the DOJ on a number of charges, has fired his attorney & intends to represent himself in his trial (which begins February 6th).

That's just insane. A federal criminal case is not patty-cake; this the time whe he most needs a lawyer.
Prediction: not only will this desperate gambit (roll the dice and hope the jury buys your defense) fail, but it will cost him when the judge increases the sentence based on perjury in Hall's testimony.
This is a terrible, terrible decision. Look, if a judge tells you three times that you shouldn't represent yourself because it's clear you don't know what you are doing--maybe you ought to listen!

Very ugly, and very sad.
Yeah, I think Hall pulled this one straight from the handbook of crazy. Very, very strange.

Probably make for a shorter trial, I guess.
In related news, Alan Kimber has announced his filing of a recall petition for Anthony Rivera, who has been indicted with Hall in a related case.
