Police Activity off 12th Street Last Night

I first saw officers examining a car stoped in the 1200 block of H Street. It stood out a bit from the norm because two of the officers got back into an unmarked car. When I headed north I saw that the 1200 block of I Street was closed off with police tape & that officers were using flashlights to search an SUV. Some kind of drug bust?

I am extremely pleased, the 900 block of 12th ne is full of older homeowners, however, one crack house in the block is a major nusance. It draws drugs and crime. The police have been in the house countless times, the owner needs to be fined. It is a crime to see one house draw so much activity. Everyone South of Florida ave needs to call about this area.

I saw them around 10pm. But something does seem to be up. Maybe it's coincidence, but I could swear that I have seen about 15 police cruisers (3 clearly for an auto accident) in the neighborhood in the past 24 hours.

Operation crack down is a good option is you are looking at a truly persistent & documented problem. I'm mostly familiar with how the program works for rental houses, but I'm sure that Commissioner Borbely is more conversant with that program than me.

From the MPD1 listserv:

Thanks for bringing this to my attention - a review of my evening shift revealed that two officers on H STreet heard gun shots at around 8pm at 12th and I - they found a car with two bullet holes in it and witnesses reported that a silver car was seen leaving the scene - no reported injuries

we continue to work on 906 12th Street and talk to the owner who keeps missing the court dates for evictions - thus US Attorney has been advised to add this property to nuisance list -- also our focus mission is working on this as well as psa 102 officers however when we went to sneak up on the house the other day - they ran into basement and locked us out -- we cannot break down door without warrant -- it is also known that they will not sell to unknown person - thus it is hard for vice to send in someone (will take some more time)

I also saw a couple of unmarked and a couple of marked cars pull over an old model cadillac in front of my house on Florida, just east of the firehouse. It was about 11 pm. Then around 1 am, there was a jeep-type vehicle stopped by flashers directly behind my house, in the alley that extends east of Wyle st.

Good to see things happening in this regard.
