This is a greatlittle summary of everything going on next to Abdo (best I've read so far.) I do hope this one gets built and doesn't get too caught up in fights about alley closing or its height. The chosen architect seems like a good start.
There is an orange "Stop Work " sign on the ABDO sign. Does anyone know anything about it?
I hope that the ANC and the Zoning Commission will require at least 1:1 parking for the residential units, PLUS sufficient parking for the retail (keeping in mind on that front that the location is Metro & Metro bus accessible). 1:1 for the residential is of greatest importance. Even with the close location of Union Station and the ability for this to be a truly "smart growth" development, the fact remains that it is likely that most residents will have at least one car.
Finally, I hope that the developer will follow Abdo's suit and include a space or two for shared car services--Zipcar / Flexcar.

The orange "Stop Work" sign has been removed.
It would be nice to be able to call it something other than the former BP site. It would be nice to see a nice solid block of development on the west end of H.
