Did anyone attend the Fight Back event? Or can anyone comment on how the alleys and streets look now compared to before the event? I wanted to make it over there, but had to work on Friday. I just want to get an idea of how effecive the program is, and get a better idea of the types of areas that would benefit from future events. Thanks!

I wish Wylie really looked this good. You have a magic camera...or maybe just vision

Here's what Operation Fight Back is all about. From MPD's website:

wylie DOES look that good. you make it sound like you're accusing her of doctoring the photo. maybe if you tried walking without looking at your shoes, you'd see some of the beauty in this city.

This is a random shot from a sunny day last October (so it wasn't taken immediately after any clean-ups or anything). I think it's just a matter of catching things at the right moment.

It's great to see this block looks so nice. Four years ago, a friend walked down Wylie to check out a house for sale. He was "heckeled" the entire time by riff-raff hoods that were hanging out on the block. It's fantastic to see a turn around.

to the anon that accused me of not walking around the city. what a weird thing to say. i know the city well, actually. not just my shoes.

besides, you missed the point. i wasn't commenting about the street, but the photo.

look at the light on the building. its more striking than any moment of the day type lighting. it has the quality of flattening the planes of the architecture. its quite unusual and does in fact, have an unnatural quality.
