It looks like the Voice of the Hill/H street Playhouse owner is assuming that Tommy is going to win. Of course, he mostly lives in West Virginia these days.

Dear Anonymous,

This is Adele Robey, the other owner of the H Street Playhouse. No one assumes anyone is the heir apparent to anything. If you have an issue with where Bruce or anyone else spends time, please give us a call. What counts is that all of us are trying to do things that help keep our community moving forward. Snarky comments are un called for and unappreciated.

Can't make but please get Wells on the record for some important benchmarks for H Street.

It's not "snarky" to wonder why the Martini Lounge and Playhouse are inviting Wells and not any of the other candidates. Wells hasn't made much of an effort in the less affluent parts of NE. It's too bad those businesses are putting their eggs in his basket.

Actually, I would have to agree that it is at least in poor taste (if not snarky), to make accusations or attack someone anonymously.

The owners of any establishment (or any individual, for that matter) are entitled to support whoever they prefer for any elected office. There is no pretense that this is an event that is intended to be an open forum or candidate debate such as might be held by the Post, Times, or an ANC. Owners of a private business can invite any, all or no candidates, as they see fit.

If you don't like the candidate (and I'm not saying that I do or don't), it is a public event and I'm sure you would be welcome to come and ask tough questions--but you might not be able to do so anonymously.

Cheers,

Alan Kimber

Owners of a business can invite anyone, of course. But people who live around that business will notice if that business only supports a candidate who has not paid much attention to them. Wells seems concerned mostly with lilly white Capitol Hill, and that bothers a lot of us.

And my name is Jim Swearer. Do you need other information from me before you consider my point valid? Plenty of people post anonymously on this website. I look forward to seeing you object to all of their points as well.

cheers

Jim,

I don't disagree with you that Wells has ignored a large portion of Ward 6. And owners of businesses risk turning people off by supporting a candidate or idea.

You're also right that a lot of people post here anonymously, which is unfortunate. I've commented on it before. It's very convenient for people to post attacks anonymously, but it's harder for people to engage in real dialogue and stand behind what they say.

Best,

Alan Kimber

All,

On Behalf of H Street Martini Lounge, the Meet & Greet was not set up to support the candidate. It was set up as a forum for the community to ask questions and meet with him directly. We will welcome any of the candidates to come out and share their goals and viewpoints (especially regarding H St) with the community.

Ms. Hinson, welcome to H Street, and I am glad your business is succeeding. I have brought guests to the Lounge and we have enjoyed the martini's, jazz, and the atmosphere. I would love an invite for Q & A sometime in the near future. Contact information is available via www.pinson2006.com. Long before the Lounge opened I worked closely with the merchants on H Street and literally visited every business, and verified every vacant property on the corridor, more than once. I'm sure we all would have a lively conversation about the past, and future of this important corridor. BTW, I still think the Robey's are good people.
