Roll Call 1 & 2 of 4

From Yesterday's Roll Call is the first (subscription only) in a series of 4 articles on the revitalization of the H Street Corridor. Yesterday's article covers the real estate market. Today's topic is H Street's image problem.

Is there any way to get the text of these articles? I don't subscribe to Roll Call.

Thanks!

For those w/o access to Roll Call, the story mentions several projects, including:

o The Adbo project (obviously).

o A Louis Dreyfus project called "Capitol Place" planned for the South side of H at 3rd St. 300-315 units, plus 200,000 sq. ft. of retail space.

o The 6th and H condo/office/retail plan discussed recently in this blog.

o A Steuart plan for 4th and H that would include 250 rental units, retail, and a Harris Teeter or similar grocery.

Any inside scoop on the status of the Steuart project? I overheard someone at the market saying that Stewart had pulled out (though he may well have been talking out of some orifice other than his mouth).

Ken,
I hadn't heard that about Steuart (pulling out), but don't they actually own the property?

Rick, you'll have to live with the summary, or check out Roll Call at a library that subscribes. Cutting & pasting the entire thing is a big copyright no no.

I've heard from a fairly reliable source that Wegman's has thrown their hat into the ring for the Steurt development. It will be interesting to see who we end up getting.

The Steuert PUD is up for final approval at the Zoning Commission in a few days. I find it hard to believe it would suddenly disappear that close to being finalized. But since HT had dickered around signing up as the supermarket, it is possible that that part of the deal is still up in the air.
