DCist recently paid
Horace & Dickie's (a fried fish & chicken joint on 12th Street, just north of H) a visit & came away satisfied. Get the write-up
here. One thing the write-up doesn't mention (but that I find endlessly amusing) is that, a
couple of years back,
Horace & Dickie's actually received an
honorable mention for best fried chicken in the south...from
Southern Living Magazine!

The lady that puts together the pile of food (as opposed to a sandwich, since it's just two slices of white/wheat bread covered in fried fish) made the pile and then pointed to her tip jar and said "this is my tip jar, feel free to put your change in there after you pay". :)
It's cheap, and not bad, but I'd only go there if I was training to compete in the fried fish eating competition...the portions are enormous!
