A listserv message alerted me to this
Post mention of a permit issued for an ice cream store 1360 (the white building in the middle (Cooley's)--I had earlier heard talk of a bakery at that location). According to the Post, the permit will cover an ice cream store on the first floor and the renovation of the 2nd floor.
1360 is across the street from
R&B Coffee (pictured below).

What about this permit:
Station Place, 700 Second St. NE. Construction of third office building in a three-building group, to be separated by landscaped plazas. $86.6 million.
There is also one for the Abdo development. I just mentioned the ice cream one because it was previously unknown to me.
Speaking of R&B Coffee, are they even operating any more? The last three time's I've been by -- twice on the weekend and once during the weekday -- they've been shut, no explanation. They no longer even post any hours on their door, either. I'm all for independent coffee houses, but if they can't hack staying open enough for business, I have no problem with Dunkin' Donuts or Caribou Coffee opening up on H Street.
R&B is just going through a bit of something right now. But trust me, it will re-open.
R&B cofee has been sold. I don't know what the new owners plans are.
The plan is to re-open R&B. It just ttakes a little time for a transition like this. Don't worry, it isn't shutting down.
