Kudos to Richard for all his hard work on the Ulline. However, I'm pretty sceptical about putting a museum in there.
These are terrible times for museums. How does a museum at that location actually survive? Especially if it's not getting some kind of federal assistance (a la the Smithsonian). One of the reasons the City Museum went down was because of the former director's completely unrealistic financial plans. Opening one in an out of the way section of DC seems utopian.
But although I may quibble about the future plans for the site, Richard deserves a great deal of credit for getting this place saved.
The developer's original renderings of a proposed development on the site (preserving the Arena) showed a Harris Teeter sign on the M Street side of the arena. I doubt, however, that HT would open a store at both 3rd & H Street and Uline Arena, being that they are so close to one another.

Great story! I had know idea. I'd love to see something positive come out of it!

Maybe that where Trader Joes will locate!
I think there's already a music museum opening up at 9th and New York. I read that somewhere recently.
Also, there was talk sometime ago of Harris Teeter entertaining that area as a site.
I think that a Trader Joes would be a better fit, given the location of the Florida Market....
