From the listserv:
The H Street Community Market (a food cooperative in the works for Capitol Hill) is hosting their first fundraiser on February 3rd at Vegetate. The coop will carry food from local producers and small farmers.
"Due to our location we have access to many local conscientious farmers that are willing to provide us with their ecologically produced and often organic food such as veggies, fruit, pastured eggs, meat and cheese. We will be a grocery store which offers everything from personal care to prepared foods, a large bulk section and local beer and wine. By purchasing local foods we will help keep costs down for the consumer and will also support our local farmers and producers. "
We need your support to open the H Street Community Market. We ask that you become a member to help be apart of this much needed change in our food system. Membership is refundable and has many worth while benefits; please visit our "Become a Member" page to join now.

am i right that they're thinking of opening an actual brick and mortar store on H?
if so, do they have a location in mind?
if my thinking is on target, this is great!
They do want to open a brick & mortar store, but I don't think they've selected a space.
i was hoping they were further along. they do state that the market is in the works, and then they say "... due to our location.."
i would think that they would only get into the fundraising business once they've actually eyeballed a fixed location.
oh well, here's to hoping!
