Rib Tip Serving Lunch

I don't have the menu in front of me, but I believe the new hours keep them open (closed Sundays) until 3pm during the week, and 4pm on Saturdays. The lunch menu has ribs (I believe it said "Chicago style") and rib sandwiches. Anyone tried the lunch yet? The Rib Tip is located on the corner of 12th & H Street.

Being right around the corner, I'm interested in seeing what this place has to offer.

There seems to be a regular group of guys that just hang out on that corner all day though that really makes it unwelcoming.

Those guys do hang out, but they are pretty harmless, so I doubt they'll bother you much.

Those guys are actually pretty cool - I hope you have a chance to chat with them sometime and you'll see what I mean.

After sleeping in after a late night, we headed over to the Rib Tip for breakfast-only to realize halfway there what time it was. We were happy to discover as we walked up that they're serving lunch now. 2 people,2 sandwiches, fries and slaw,1 pepsi=$10.

It was pretty darned good- though it's more a fork and knife sandwich based on the juicy BBQ meat. The portions were refreshingly normal sized adn the sauce they use is sweet and hot. The fries were tasty and large cut with a dash of Old Bay (i think).

Someone else in there was enjoying the rib tips immensely-judging from the loud slurping and finger licking sounds.

I hope they'll continue to expand the food options- as well as the beverages-currently they offer OJ, apple juice, Pepsi and milk.

The owner was really nice and evertything was very clean.
They've got thay great corner lot and I can picture them with a great patio setup someday.

Do you know if they will be serving breakfast past 11 on Saturday? Mine usually begin late, and seeing as Argo only serves on Sunday, it would be very welcome. As a vegetarian, a rib lunch just won't do.

It looks like breakfast ends early for now. You might need to drag yourself out of bed a few times & try to convince the owner that there is a demand for later breakfasts.

Go crazy with those labels... how about"restaurant"?

Just testing the new functions. The labels will be useful, but I've got lots of back-labeling to do if I really want them to work well.

I had breakfast at the Rib Tip for the first time yesterday. Doug, the owner, is quite friendly and lives within three blocks of the restaurant. The inside is cozy and clean, and Motown is usually playing on his XM radio. $5 gets you two eggs, a meat (bacon, ham, scrapple, etc), toast and a side (grits, home fries, etc). Coffee is bottomless. I had the salmon cakes and enjoyed the entire meal. A good choice for a basic breakfest.

Had lunch there today. The temporary lunch menu does have two options: Rib Tips and BBQ sandwich. You get home made fries (Doug says pretty much everything they make is homemade) and with the sandwich you get some really nice slaw.
He said the building was owned by his mother and he's looking forward to fixing it up more in the future. There will be a full lunch menu with ribs, rotisserie chicken, wings and more to go with the current offerings as soon as the fire suppression system is fully installed.
You get the Motown on the radio, the food is delicious, friendly service, and prices? The sandwich, fries, slaw and a Pepsi were $4.50.
Here's a low-res pic (it looked better in person :-)

Thanks for the update Rob. I'll have to check out the lunch offerings.
