Post Reviews the Pug
Those of you who haven't made it down to the Pug yet (and those who have) should check out the Post write-up on the bar (1234 H Street).

This is a great review. Is H St. actually starting to become a destination spot? IF ONLY... we can get better transportation worked out for those heading down to the bars & theater!
Great place. I'm disapointed by the lack of tv's though. I was hoping for a bar within two blocks of the house that I could watch some of my teams play.
I guess people get thrown off by the boxing "theme." People hear boxing (i.e. sports theme) and it kind of sounds like a sports bar. The boxing theme at the Pug is not only understated, but it's more of an homage to the history of boxing, and not so much about who's going to win the next title. A place like that is probably much rarer than the generic sports bar. I don't think it's hard to understand the confusion. Personally, I'd much rather have the Pug than any sports bar. And sports fans can always catch games at the Argonaut.
it's annoying that people are going to assume it's a sports bar, head out there, and then be dissapointed when they realize that it's not showing teams playing each other, golf, etc.
it's not a big deal. i'm just looking out for the pug WAY too much! hehe..
Great. Just great. The gentrification of H Steet continues. What happened to all the working poor that used to pooulate the area? You know, the ones whose families had been in that part of DC for several generations. The payoff: we have yet another area of DC selling overpriced drinks. Great. Just great.
It might pay to recall that the majority of the new places that have opened on H Street have opened in previously vacant buildings. The Rib Tip is super affordable and unpretentious. Is it part of the gentrification of H Street? What previously existing businesses have been forced out?

no, it's not a palace of wonders....
and that's great! h street is actually starting to become a "diverse" area.
we still have a sushi place on the way, a jazz bar, a mini golf joint, and who knows what else!
We stopped over on Monday and it had closed early for the holiday. Guess we'll have to make another attempt soon.
Finally a bar that specializes in good music! It only takes a single Toby Keith fan finding the internet jukebox to ruin a good buzz.
Stopped in at the Pug last night-- the pickled eggs were sublime.
Congrats to Tony T. I am very excited to check it out. See you there.
