thanks for the info, all i could think of was that episode where george was a hand model and wore oven mitts to keep his hands safe. I guess i wasnt even close.

They're serving food on plastic? Nice.

Well, the Majestic is a pretty casual place, so, yeah plastic plates (at least you know they are clean).

Yeah, that always bugged me...like The Ohio did that too with the plastic plate thing. For very little money, a restaurant could easily buy some plates and some flatware, but then I guess it gets complicated because then you need to have a health department approved system for sanitizing dishes (I think?). Which probably involves a large industial size dishwasher that you need space for and lots of dollars to purchase. In the end, I think I'd rather have a place to go to for catfish and greens served on plastic plates then no place by my house to eat.

hopefully, we can avoid starbucks, and get a few more places like this around the area.

maybe i'm dreaming, but at least six or eight more places like this would really make this area "cool".

let's all just fight off the starbucks, etc.!

down with the big conglomerates!

what we need is food for the soul!

that's why we all moved here, right?

or was it for property values?

Hey 11:08,
you can leave the same damn comment on every post if you want, but that doesn't make you any more right. People moved here for different reasons. For me, I lived here for a while before I even thought of buying. But they I saw crazy stuff happening with sales right next door, and down the street, and i figured why not buy (back in 2003, before anyone around here even heard of Joe Englert). I liked the neighborhood, felt comfortable here, and could afford it. So damn me for buying a house that I could afford. I guess I must be some detestable yuppie scum just for buying a house. My deepest apologies for not being born here.

People have their reasons for disliking chains (or even certain chains). That isn't necessarily wrong. As far as chains go Starbucks is a pretty decent one in that they actually offer pretty good benefits. Bit offfer me a choice between Sidamo and Starbucks and I rather have Sidamo. People go to Starbucks because it's a pretty uniform product (generally a pretty good product). Nothing wrng with that, but Sidamo offers something other than authenticity. In fact, they offer lots of other things. For example:
1. excellent sandwiches at decent prices (you really get a lot for your money)
2. homemade soups (haven't tried them yet)
3. a huge selection of loose and bagged teas
4. really, really good coffee roasted in-house
5. a weekly coffee ceremony
6. free wifi
