Date Set For H Street Festival

IMG_3773
I ran into one of the festival organizers this weekend and he told me that this year's festival will be held September 15th. Scheduling the festival is always a bit of a challenge because so many neighborhoods hold events at this time. Let's hope we can escape any major conflicts this year.

I'm not sure I can make it on that day. Do you think you could ask them to move it up a week?

Thanks much!

I'll be out of town that weekend also. If they could move it up, that would be great. The 8th would be ideal for me. Does anyone have any problems with this?

People, PLEASE! This is not the appropriate forum for this.

It's very difficult to come up with a date that will satisfy everyone. A lot of work has gone into this, and it's really not going to change because one or two people "won't be around". Give me a break!

How old are you people? 12?

Seriously. Please don't waste folks' time with these irreverent requests.

It's going to happen on the 15th and that's final.

THANK YOU Sheesh. Where do people come off thinking the world revolves around them. Don't they know if you change the date, someone will have a problem w/ any date you lock in.

I'd say that first comment at least is probably just a joke referencing my language about the difficulting of scheduling fall festivals.

I'll try and change my plans, but I can't believe how rude some people are! I really wanted to make the festival this year.

You people need to rethink your manners, and your sense of community spirit!

I can see why many of the neighbors aren't too happy with this lot!

This is intentionally off topic, since the topic has now soured...

Alan Kimber's blog has some new renderings for the Dreyfus project on the 200 block of H Street and vicinity:

Thanks, Alan.

Guys,
I think we should put the date change to a vote. I'm not too comfortable with moving the date to the 8th. The 15th isn't the greatest date for me, but perhaps if we did it the weekend following the 15th? Perhaps we could take an online vote here, and present it to the organizing officials. Are there any other date change requests out there? I think we should go with whatever day gets the most votes.

Remember, only one vote per person, so the anonymous posts don't count, because feasibly, you could vote twice.

Let's have a cutoff date to, so it will allow Elise time to hand in the results to the organizers.

Thanks for all the support, Elise!

Ok, seriously guys, I've got no control over the date they have set. They probably selected the date to avoid conflicting with things like the Brookland festival, the one in Adams Morgan, the one on Barracks Row and other stuff elesewhere. These other festivals are bigger and more established, and given the choice, most people would probably choose to attend those rather than our little festival on H Street. I don't know how long ago they chose the 15th, but that is the date they chose, and I'd assume that they plan to stick with it.
