I can understand the desire to read the article, but Roll Call's online version is available by subscription only. I hate to say that subscriptions are definitely on the expensive side - probably because their target audience is somewhat narrow.
Reposting the article here could leave Inked liable for copyright violations and other legal issues.
Several complimentary copies of the print edition of Roll Call are delivered each day that it prints to every Congressional office, as well as a number of other locations throughout the city.
As a subscriber, I can tell you that the article offers some good background info on the bars already open (including some of the changes they have gone through along the way), but it doesn't really break any ground that Inked hasn't already written about. But if you really want to read it anyway, I would encourage you to grab a print copy.
Some good press, but agree there's no new ground broken.
There is one nugget -- 'The Rock and Roll Hotel has had to tweak its original plans because of it's growing popularity. The practice rooms...have been turned into green rooms for visiting bands, storage rooms and offices for the management. One of these rooms soon will be turned into a pinball room.'
Slightly off topic: I just heard on the radio that there are plans to plant cherry blossom trees this year in several n'hoods during the cherry blossom festival. One of the n'hoods mentioned was Trinidad...anyone know anything about that? Also, I don't remember seeing any cherry blossom trees planned for H St. on the plans for Great Streets. I wonder if they don't hold up well, just don't fit in, or what.
There aren't going to be any street trees planted on the H Street corridor for several years because of all the work that's going on. The sidewalks and streets will all be torn up in the short term, so the decision was made that there's no point in planting the trees given the fact they'd probably die.
Street trees have a higher likelihood of living when there's a business owner or organization on site to take care of them. As time passes H Street will get the capability to care for street trees, through the Main Street, the CDC, individual owners, or something else. But it was a good decision on the part of the city and neighborhood stakeholders to hold off on the planting, I think.
Yeah RE: the tree planting, they probably didn't actually say it was during the festival so that makes sense. I also have on my calendar that there's going to be a Florida Market tour on 4/21(?) That's going to be a busy day.
My understanding is that anonymous 2:22pm is correct about street trees along H Street.
One good thing is that the plans call for planting street trees not only along H Street, but ensuring that street trees are in place on the blocks immediately North and South of H Street (along numbered streets).
All the trees for the planting on the 21st are going to be planted at the Joe Cole Rec. Center. There are periodically other chances to get free trees (assuming that you pledge to water them). You should definitely come out for the planting.

We do have a community planting (alng with Casey trees) on April 21st. Some of the trees are cherry blossoms. Maybe that is the reference.

I'll glady volunteer te 1200 block of Holbrook street to receive one of those cherry trees!
