I've worked with Councilmember Wells' office to organize a Task Force to deal with vacant properties in ANC 6C and ANC 6A.
The primary focus was originally to be H Street NE, but after discussing at our first meeting, the group expanded its mission to deal with all vacant properties in ANC 6C and ANC 6A as a sort of joint Task Force between the ANCs.
The Task Force is interested in working with everyone interested in this issue. Anyone interested (or who wants to stay up-to-date) is welcome to join the Task Force's Google Group:
http://groups.google.com/group/hstreettaskforce
There are already in excess of 90 properties that have been identified and documented, and the Task Force is in the process of ensuring that the 60+ properties already identified by 6A are included in the database.
Each property is being documented in a separate MS Word document containing both pictures of the property and the tax assessment information.
One priority focus of the group is working with DCRA and OTR to get properties that are vacant properly classified at the higher tax rate for vacant properties. Another is contacting owners to find out their plans, and to point them toward available resources that might be able to provide business, etc. assistance.
I live on the 1100 block of D St NE, where there is house that has been boarded up since a drug bust in August of 2005. Does anyone know how can I find out what the ownership status of the house is? Thanks.
Does anyone know how long it takes the DC government to get a vacant house onto their vacant house database/list? I wrote them about a month ago about a vacant house, and just looked at their list, which was supposedly updated within the last couple days, and it's not on there.

Hi Anon 1:33 - Check the blog for links. A link to the blog is in Inked's original post.
