DC Yoga Week on H Street

Next week (May 12-18) is DC Yoga Week and yoga studios throughout DC will be offering $5 classes (normal charge is $15) to all first-time participants. If you haven't been to H Street's Bikram Yoga Capitol Hill (410 H Street) yet, this is a good time to do so. Read more about DC Yoga Week here.

Here's what one local resident sent to a listserv regarding Bikram Yoga Capitol Hill:
I've been to Bikram Yoga Capitol Hill before, and the classes are tremendous--very challenging (you work to whatever your fitness/comfort level is, so anyone can do it), and unlike a traditional workout, I was not very sore the day following (a benefit of the heat, I think).

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know about this great opportunity to try something new, and support one of our H Street businesses in the process. I'm not affiliated with the studio--just spreading the word.

Best,
Alan Kimber
Commissioner, ANC 6C05

I am a regular (3x a week- usually!) at this studio. It can seem scary and overwhelming at first, but the teachers are fantastic. In almost every class there is a new person attending. There is no basic/advanced class distinction - all levels of students attend all classes. All of the teachers are very well trained and work with the new students. Many of the people taking classes there seem to live in the neighborhood - so this is a great way to meet some of your neighbors, too!

This may be the motivation I need to finally check this place out. Thanks for the word.

Also, in less healthy news, I just wanted to mention that the Safeway at Hechinger Mall now sells wine and beer. The selection is not great, but man is it better than nothing.

that's cool about safeway!

but more importantly...

do they sell singles?! ;o)

Capitol Hill Yoga (www.capitolhillyoga.com) is also participating in DC Yoga Week. They're also offering an Eastern Market fundraiser class this Saturday.
