Initially I heard that a meal delivery service would be moving to a space in the 400 block of H Street (I think the spot is that tiny church thing on the corner). But I've since been informed that the space will likely be for a sit-down healthfood restaurant instead (but it might also do meal delivery). Here is some info on the company
Fitness & Food Used For Energy & Life: F(2)UEL.

Inked, you are correct that it is the former church building on the corner.
My understanding is that initially, the building will be used as a smoothie bar-type place, with plans for a future 24-hour health food cafe.
Great to see the building going back to a good use. This will be a nice addition to our end of H Street.

Let's hope they keep the Michael and Janet Jackson mural on the wall, visible as you drive south on 4th Street. I love those. Reminds us all that Michael was once actually a child.
Sorry to hijack this thread, but I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the Singles Moratorium actually made it onto the agenda for consideration by the City Council tomorrow?
It struck me as somewhat odd that there were quite a few reports about the "hurdle" that was cleared on the 2nd, but no follow up reports that have said whether or not the bill actually made it onto the Council's agenda.
I've just emailed Charles Allen in Councilmember Wells' office, but I figured I'd check in here, as well.
Sorry to co-conspire with you to hijack this thread. Here's from Joe Fengler's office:
Good morning,
The "H Street Moratorium Approval Resolution of 2007", PR 17-0329 is on the council agenda today for adoption (see below at the very bottom). It only requires one reading and one vote to adopt. It has taken us over two years to get this far. If passed, it will be published in the DC Register with an enactment date of 30 days after it has been published. This is the final hurdle to enacting the ban on the single sales of alcohol between on H Street between 7th Street and 14th Street, NE. If all goes well today, the moratorium could be implemented by late August.
Yes, the moratorium was approved for H Street.
Early this morning, I got this e-mail from Charles Allen, Tommy's chief of staff:
"At 12:30 am, the bill passed. It was one of the most heated debates of the day, and at one point, I honestly wasn't sure we were going to win. Barry and Thomas aggressively opposed it. Tommy made a speech that saved it and won approval. It was the last bill considered before the legislative meeting ended."
After over two years of hard work, the community will soon have relief from the sales of singles on H Street between 7th and 14th Street. In addition to Tommy's great support, ANC 6A Commissioner Mary Beatty and the citizen volunteers that serve on our Alcohol Beverage and Licensing Committee deserves most of the credit. Without their combined dedication to study the issue as well as holding the many public meetings to develop an approach, crafting the moratorium text, and representing the community in front of the Alcohol Beverage Control Board as well as the public round table last week – we would not have this moratorium.
thanks for the update, joe!
truly phenomenal!!
